- Albert's Home and Anjeanette's Home - N 30th St KCK
- Russell Cornelius
This campaign is for Albert and Brandy's home and Anjeanette's home located at 3012 and 3016 N 30th Street.
Help to build new and rehabilitated homes for Kansas City families — no experience necessary! We will teach you and provide all tools you need, and only ask for you to come with close-toed shoes, a water bottle, and an excited attitude! Work days are Wednesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Fridays start at 9 a.m.).
About the homeowner:
Anjeanette knows that homeownership through Habitat KC is her best opportunity to build stability for herself and her three grandchildren she cares for.
Anjeanette has struggled with homelessness as she battled substance abuse for years. Now, 13 years sober, Anjeanette works as a custodian to support her three grandchildren who live with her in her sister's home. She says that her sister, who is also a Habitat homeowner, has been a huge support for her and was the first person to encourage her to apply to Habitat KC.
"I'm excited because it's a place that will give us security," Anjeanette says. "In my heart, I believe it will bring our family together. It will be a place that is ours, a place to go home to. I'm thankful that I can give that to them.
"I'm looking forward to sitting tin my living room and having my own home. To put my key in my door, turn that lock and know, 'This is mine.'"
